The age limit for GDS applying for Postman and Mail Guard is 50 years as of 01/01/2025. There is no upper age limit for GDS applying for the MTS post. Age relaxation for different categories will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
Essential Qualification

Postman and Mail Guard
- 10th standard pass.
- Knowledge of working on Computer.
- Knowledge of the local language (Tamil).
- Valid two-wheeler or light motor vehicle license (for Postman only).
- Five years of regular service as a Gramin Dak Sevak.

Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS)
- No minimum educational qualification required.
- Three years of regular service as a Gramin Dak Sevak.
Note: For the Postman role, candidates without a valid driving license can also apply. However, their pay increment will be withheld until they produce the license or for five years, whichever is earlier.
Selection Process
- Written Examination: Candidates will take a competitive exam.
- Paper-I & II: For Postman/Mail Guard selection.
- Paper-I only: For MTS selection.
- Paper-III (Local Language Test): Qualifying in nature for Postman/Mail Guard.
- Paper-IV (Data Entry Skill Test – DEST): Qualifying in nature for Postman/Mail Guard.
- Document Verification: To verify all original documents.
