Essential Qualification

Professor
- Recognised MBBS degree.
- PG Degree (MD/DM/MCh) in respective specialty (Cardiology, CTVS, Psychiatry).
- 12 years standing in profession.
- Minimum 4 years as Associate Professor in a recognised institution after PG degree.

Associate Professor
- Recognised MBBS degree.
- PG Degree (MD/DM/MCh) in respective specialty (Cardiology, Neurology, CTVS, Radiology).
- Minimum 5 years experience (Senior Resident/Tutor etc.) after first PG degree.
- Minimum 2 years as Assistant Professor.

Assistant Professor
- Recognised MBBS degree.
- PG Degree (MD/DM/MCh) in respective specialty.
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience (Senior Resident/Tutor etc.) after first PG degree.
- Relevant special training needed for some specialties.
Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Candidates are first shortlisted based on minimum eligibility (age, qualification, experience).
- Further Shortlisting: If many candidates apply, ICMR may use criteria like higher experience or higher qualifications to shortlist further for interviews.
- Interview Call Limit: The number of candidates called for interview is generally limited based on vacancies (e.g., up to 12 for 1 vacancy, up to 24 for 2-3 vacancies).
