Essential Qualification
The following Scouting Qualifications are mandatory for all posts:
- President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalaya Wood Badge (HWB) holder.
- Active Scouts organization member for the past 5 years.
- Attended 2 National/All Indian Railways level events AND 2 State level events.
- Group C (Level 2)
- Educational:
- Passed 10+2 with 50 percent marks OR
- For Technical Posts Matriculation plus ITI or Act Apprenticeship.
- Group D (Level 1 - Civil Engg Mech Elect & S&T Depts)
- Educational:
- 10th passed PLUS National Apprenticeship Certificate NAC OR
- 10th pass PLUS ITI.
- Group D (Level 1 - Other Departments)
- Educational:
- 10th Pass or ITI or National Apprenticeship Certificate NAC.
Selection Process
- Written Test: 60 Marks total. Includes 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay (20 marks). Duration is 60 minutes. Syllabus covers Scouts Guides organization and General Knowledge. There is negative marking of 1/3rd for wrong objective answers.
- Marks on Certificates: 40 Marks based on participation in events and specialized courses.
- Document Verification: For candidates who qualify the written test.

- Yes you can apply for both categories if you meet the eligibility conditions. You need to submit a separate application form along with the examination fee for each application.
- What is the examination fee?
- The fee is Rs. 500 for general candidates and Rs. 250 for candidates belonging to SC ST Women Minorities and Economically Backward Classes. The fee for the latter categories will be refunded if they appear in the written examination.
- What is the selection procedure?
- The selection process includes a Written Test marks on certificates Document Verification and finally a Medical Examination.
- Where will the written examination be held?
