Age Eligibility

The age criteria for the various Level-1 posts are 18 to 36 years as on 01/01/2025 (inclusive of a one-time age relaxation of 3 years in light of COVID-19 pandemic).

Exam Fee

For all candidates except the fee concession categories Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 refundable on appearing in CBT)
For PwBD / Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class (EBC). (Caution to Candidates: EBC should not be confused with OBC or EWS) Rs. 250 (Rs. 250 refundable on appearing in CBT)

10th pass or ITI.

Selection Process

Stage Phase Details
Stage 1 Computer Based Test (CBT) Duration: 90 mins (120 mins for eligible PwBD with scribe).
Syllabus:
  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Science
  • General Awareness
Marking: Negative marking (1/3 for wrong answers).
Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-30% (Relaxable by 2% for PwBD). Marks will be normalized.
Stage 2 Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Male Candidates:
  • Lift and carry 35 Kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes (one chance).
  • Run 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds (one chance).
Female Candidates:
  • Lift and carry 20 Kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes (one chance).
  • Run 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds (one chance).
Exemptions: PwBD, Course Completed Act Apprentices, Ex-Servicemen are exempted. Relaxed PET standards (equivalent to Female candidates) apply for Transgender candidates. Passing PET is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
Stage 3 Document Verification (DV) Candidates shortlisted after PET will undergo Document Verification.
Stage 4 Medical Examination (ME) Candidates shortlisted after DV will undergo Medical Examination.

  3. Click on the "Create an Account" link.
  4. Fill in your details to create an account.
  5. Log in using your account credentials.
  6. Fill out the online application form carefully, including personal details and educational qualifications.
  7. Scan and upload required documents:
    • Recent passport size photograph (50 KB to 100 KB) in JPEG format.
    • Signature (30 KB to 50 KB) in JPEG format.
    • SC/ST Certificate (only for candidates requesting free pass for train travel) in PDF format (up to 500 KB).
  8. Choose your Railway and post preferences.
  9. Pay the application fee online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.
  10. Review your application thoroughly before final submission.
  11. Submit the application form.
  12. Take a printout of the application form for future reference.
  13. For modifications after submission, a fee of Rs. 250 (non-refundable) applies. Changes can be made until 06/03/2025.
