Essential Qualification

  • A Bachelors Degree is required.
  • Degree must follow one of these patterns:
    • 10+2+3/4/5
    • 10+3+2 or 10+3+3 (after Diploma)
    • 10+2+3 (after 2 year ITI)
  • Open University degrees are okay only if pattern is followed.
  • No experience needed.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination
    • Part I: Tamil Language Eligibility Test (Common for All)
      • Nature: Qualifying only
      • Type: Objective
      • Marks: 100 marks (100 questions)
      • Duration: 100 minutes
      • Passing Score: 40 percent needed
      • Syllabus: Tamil Language
    • Part II: Main Written Examination
      • For Open Quota Candidates:
        • Type: Objective
        • Marks: 70 Marks (Part A 40 marks Part B 30 marks)
        • Duration: 2.5 hours
        • Passing Score: 35 percent needed
      • For Departmental Quota Candidates:
        • Type: Objective
        • Marks: 85 Marks (Part A 15 marks Part B 70 marks)
        • Duration: 3 hours
        • Passing Score: 35 percent needed
  2. Certificate Verification (For qualified candidates from written exam)
  3. Physical Tests
    • For Open Quota Candidates:
      • Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Height and Chest check. Qualifying nature. (Ex servicemen exempted)
      • Endurance Test (ET): Running test. Qualifying nature.
      • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Events like rope climbing jump run. Max 15 Marks awarded based on performance.
    • For Departmental Quota Candidates:
      • Endurance Test (ET): Running test. Qualifying nature.
      • (No PMT or PET for Departmental candidates)
  4. Viva Voce (Interview)
    • For candidates qualifying previous stages.
    • Marks: Max 10 Marks.
  5. Special Marks
    • Marks: Max 5 Marks.
    • Awarded for NCC NSS Sports certificates (Open Quota) or Police Duty Meet Medals (Departmental Quota).
  6. Final Selection List
    • Based on total marks in Main Exam PET (Open only) Viva Voce and Special Marks.
    • Follows reservation rules.
  7. Medical Examination and Character Verification
    • For provisionally selected candidates.
