Departmental Candidates The term departmental candidates” means, those candidates who are currently working with SAIL as an employees (incl. trainees) and not wards of SAIL employees. Upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years over and above the corresponding upper age limit. However, for E1/S3 level posts, it will be 45 years, irrespective of the category of the candidate.

Selection Process

3. Interview Details Candidates will be called in order of merit. Merit list will be prepared based on interview performance. If candidates have the same cutoff marks, preference will be given to those with higher marks in PG/DNB.
4. Minimum Qualifying Marks (Interview) 50% for UR/EWS, 40% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwBD.
Steps Details
1. Shortlisting Based on eligibility criteria.
2. Selection Online Test (CBT) followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates. However, If the ratio of applicants is less than 1:5 for any position, then selection will be through interview only.
3. Online Test (CBT) Details Objective type with multiple-choice questions. Details about exam centers, duration, and syllabus will be given later.
4. Interview Details Candidates will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 (or as per the merit list) based on their CBT score. The final selection merit list will be prepared based on 80:20 weightage for Online Test (CBT) and Interview respectively (or as per interview merit).
5. Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT) 50 percentile for UR/EWS, 40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwBD. If multiple candidates get the CBT cutoff marks, they all will be called for an interview.
Steps Details

2. Selection Online Test (CBT) followed by a Skill Test for shortlisted candidates.
3. Online Test (CBT) Details Objective type with multiple-choice questions. Details about exam centers, duration, and syllabus will be provided later.
4. Skill Test Details Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio category-wise, in order of merit, based on their CBT scores. This test is of qualifying nature. The final merit list will be prepared in descending order based on CBT scores for candidates who qualify for the Skill Test.
5. Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT) 50 percentile for UR/EWS, 40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/ PwBD.

a) No application fee will be charged from SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Departmental candidates. However, SC/ST/ PwBD/ESM/Departmental candidates will be charged with Processing Fee only.
b) Candidates will have to bear the Bank charges, if any, in addition to the applicable Application/ Processing Fee.
c) At the time submission of online application, candidates will be required to pay Application & Processing Fee (as the case may be) online through Net Banking / Credit Card / ATM cum Debit Card. Fee shall not be collected by any other mode. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

How to Apply

  1. Eligible and interested candidates are required to apply online through the SAIL Careers Website. No other modes of application will be accepted.
  2. Before applying online, candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions.
  3. Candidates need to have a valid email ID and Mobile Number which should remain valid till the completion of the entire selection process.
  4. Candidates should have a recent passport size colour photograph (in .jpg or .jpeg format only) of size up to 50 kb. The photograph should have a white background and the candidate must not be wearing sunglasses, goggles, etc.
  5. Candidates must also have a scanned copy of their signature (running signature and not individual alphabets) in .jpg or .jpeg format of size up to 20 kb for uploading with the application form. The same photograph should be used for the entire selection process.
  6. Candidates must write their name as it appears in their Matriculation Certificate.
  7. Candidates should carefully read the instructions before filling out and submitting the online application.
  8. Candidates need to upload necessary documents, make payment (if applicable), and finally register their application. Once done, candidates are advised to save and print the provisional Registration slip for future reference.
